DEC thank commercial radio

Commercial radio and the DEC (Disaster Emergency Committee) have had a long-running and successful relationship. When those most devastated and in need require urgent help, the DEC works on behalf of the UK’s biggest charities to co-ordinate a response. Radiocentre’s partnership with the DEC allows urgent appeals to reach millions of people and after an unprecedented year in which three DEC campaigns have run, they would like to say thank you to the commercial radio industry.

Saleh Saeed, DEC Chief Executive says “The very generous support of Radiocentre’s member stations has helped us raise an incredible £112 million this year. The funds you helped raise by airing our three appeals – for Yemen and East Africa and most recently for those fleeing Myanmar – have allowed more than 3.3 million people to receive urgent life-saving aid. Your support is an integral part of the ongoing success of DEC appeals so I extend a very big THANK YOU from everyone at the DEC. Together we’re stronger.”
